to santa rosa. arson investigators are hard at work. the first fire started just before 10:00 last night at st. rose church on 10th street. minutes later fire crews were called to church of incarnation and then a third call came in about a fire at an engineering company on third street called carlie macy engineering. all fires were quickly put out and damage is minimal. investigators believe the fires are connected. right now there's no evidence the fires are hate crimes but at this point nothing is being ruled out. so far obviously no arrests have been made. >>> it is october first and blazing hot outside. a fall heat wave continues to grip the bay area. let's bring in our chief meteorologist jeff ranieri in the nbc bay area weather center. super hot today. >> feeling more like july here across a lot of the bay area. good enough for a record in santa rosa. 103 in gilroy. walnut creek, 102. san francisco, 92 degrees. sweltering for city standards. upper 80s in the south bay. let's take you to that live hd sky camera network right now. a bit hazy. the winds are trying to turn more onshore

of the overnight hour. 53 in santa rosa and 59 in san jose. our forecast is taking you through the middle portion of our workweek. clouds and the dense valley fog in our north bay. a little cooler for all of us. a few more clouds on monday. and then we will bring uh slight chance of maybe a few sprinkles, a chance of a brief shower in the south bay tuesday, lingering possibly into wednesday morning. it is all because of this cutoff low. we were watching it spinning all weekend long. it will help to drive the low clouds and fog away from the coast. nice visibility, but as this moves a little by monday afternoon we will notice that we will see a little more of a cooler air mass and a few more clouds. this is 3:00 tomorrow afternoon, but check out by tuesday. this will start to move to the south, and as it does you can see the moisture feed here. it will be drawn up from san jose points southward. there is a chance of a sprinkle or stray shower tuesday through early morning wednesday morning. and then by wednesday afternoon it will go to southern california, and our chances of seeing any measurable
letters into them for years. rosa started noticing something strange a couple of months ago. >> i think somebody tried to get the mail from the box. and it's a headache because we have to go like maybe every two days to the post office and get our mail. every day. >> reporter: neighbors say they came to the front panel and didn't think there was a problem. but when they stepped to the back side of the mailboxes, they knew they were in trouble. we discovered three different community mailboxes that had been vandalized. that means at least 36 residents have to make that trip to the post office to get their mail. this man says he needs this resolved quickly. he hasn't received his pg&e bill and worries about late fees. we spoke with the property manager who says she doesn't know who's responsible to replace the mailboxes. the owners, the renters, or the post office. the post office did not return our calls today. now rosa says she worries about identity fraud. >> yes. of course i worry about it. >> reporter: in san jose, damian trujillo, nbc bay area news. >>> the bay area's new catholic a
